We enjoyed out trip to Cuba in 2003 so much that we promised ourselves we would come back and see more of this beautiful and fascinating country.  During that trip, we visited Havana and explored the island from the western tip as far east as Trinidad.  This time we booked an air-only charter direct from Winnipeg into Holguin. We rented a car and spent two weeks touring the Oriente. The eastern end of the island contains the Sierra Maestra mountains and is very scenic.  As we did on our first visit, we stayed in private homes, or casas particulares, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of getting to know ordinary Cuban people and sharing their homes with them.
